Never Run Out of Lunch Ideas With the Best Lunch Recipe Apps
Having a delicious lunch meal to look forward to can really make a difference in your day. Whether you are having a lousy day at work, or you need a good energy boost after working hard throughout the morning, a great lunch can give you exactly what you need to turn your day around. The trick to a successful lunch menu is that it must be delicious, well balanced, easy to pack, and most importantly, easy to prepare.
I like to prepare my lunches ahead of time because I usually don’t have time during lunch hour to cook myself a meal. Although I do have a few go-to recipes that I love, more than once I’ve found myself eager to switch it up and try something new. In my search for easy-to-prepare recipes, I’ve tried out different lunch recipe apps on my phone. So, I thought it would be a good idea to share with you some of the lunch food apps I’ve found to be the best. After some extensive testing and careful selection, I narrowed down my top 3 favorite lunch apps and reviewed them.
8fit – More than just a meal planner
One of my favorite lunch recipe apps is 8fit. What I really like about it is that not only can you find hundreds of lunch recipes, but you can also plan your daily workouts too. I like how easy it is to set up your profile. By entering your age, height, weight and fitness goals, you get both personalized meal recommendations and workout plans to help you reach your goals quickly. Another plus I’ve found is that the recipes are really varied. So, if you have a food allergy, or have several dietary restrictions, you can rest assured that you will find recipes that work for you. And, last but not least, I really like how you can easily track the calories you eat and the calories you burn during workouts, so you can easily keep those calories in check with just a few taps.
While many of the recipes are easy and quick to prepare, I have found that some can take some time to cook. So, before you start cooking take a look at the estimated preparation time. If you have the extra time, I do recommend trying out some of the longer recipes. I’ve cooked a few of them so far and they are definitely worth the extra effort!
FitMenCook – Learn to cook with step-by-step video instructions
Another lunch recipe app I really love is FitMenCook. This is an old favorite of mine as it really helped me get started with cooking. I’ve found it to be a great choice for beginners as you can view step-by-step video instructions for hundreds of recipes. They are super easy to follow, and they can really help you build up your cooking skills. I also really like that the recipes are easy on your wallet. No need to spend a lot of money to eat deliciously! Another plus is that you can easily scale recipes to any group size, which I’ve found really helpful when I’m having friends over for lunch or dinner.
While I’ve had a really positive experience with the FitMenCook app, I’ve noticed that some users complain about a slight delay in recipe updates. Apparently, recipes are posted first on the FitMenCook website, and then they trickle their way into the app. However, with hundreds of recipes to choose from, waiting just a few days for a new recipe is not bad at all!
Archana’s Kitchen – Easy lunchbox ideas for you and your kids
I discovered my last pick, Archana’s Kitchen, just over two weeks ago. I was actually looking for new lunch recipes to cook for my kids, and I found this app on a list of the top 10 lunch recipe apps. Although some of the other apps on the list were also pretty great, this one stood out for several reasons. Before I get into my review, I’ll drop the link if you want to check out some of the other options yourself.
One of the reasons I really like Archana’s Kitchen is that you can find practically any kind of recipe. Not only did I find some really great kids lunch box recipes, but I also liked that they have evening snack recipes, party food recipes, cocktail recipes, dip recipes, and more. I also liked how you can choose from different recipe categories, including cuisine type and dietary requirements. Lately, I’ve been trying my hand at the high protein vegetarian recipes and they are surprisingly good!
There are so many recipes to choose from that it can be a bit overwhelming at first. I recommend that instead of searching through the entire recipe library, pick a category to easily narrow down your search to something you feel like eating. Whether you want to stay clear from eggs, feel like eating Mexican, or simply want to cook up a quick snack, picking a recipe category will narrow down the recipe selection to exactly what you are looking for.
Conclusion
I find it hard to pick one app as my sole favorite, as I’ve found some really great recipes on each one. My recommendation is that you go with my first pick, 8fit if you are working towards a fitness goal. My second pick is a great choice if you are just getting started with cooking. And, my last pick is great if you want to find a recipe for any occasion. Whichever you pick, I’m certain you will love the lunch recipes. Have fun cooking!
